New dog park at Ridleyton will feature a dog wash

Charles Sturt Council plans to build the 1.7ha fenced dog playground at Albert Greenshields Reserve on Torrens Rd.

Plans submitted to the Council's meeting on Monday, April 22, included pooch play equipment such as ramps, tunnels, hoops and poles for dogs to run through, jump over and weave between.

It will also include a free dog wash, drink tap, two sandpits, a mulched garden bed and a seating bench. Charles Sturt Mayor Kirsten Alexander said she was pleased the council had responded to residents' requests for a dog park.

"We have had a lot of positive feedback about the cheap ugg bailey button boots park, it is important because dogs need to socialise to be healthy and well adjusted," Ms Alexander said. A report submitted with the plans stated 80 per cent of the 213 Brompton, Ridleyton and Bowden residents surveyed preferred the park to be built at Albert Greenshields Reserve over Josiah Mitton Reserve, off Hawker St.
